VB-MAPP provides educators and parents with an effective means of assessing the learning, language, and social skills of children with autism or other special educational needs. The VB-MAPP is based on B. F. Skinner's analysis of language, the principles of behavior analysis, and developmental milestones. The VB-MAPP offers a comprehensive and well-founded assessment approach that can help identify barriers to learning and language development, assisting in guiding the development of individualized educational plans. VB-MAPP consists of this protocol and the accompanying guide (not included).

Features:

• Milestone Assessment. It focuses on 170 milestones that form the basis of language, learning, and social development. The milestones are sequenced into three developmental levels (0-18 months, 18-30 months, and 30-48 months). Objective measurement criteria are included to assess intervention outcomes. It includes a specific assessment of echoic behavior created by Dr. Barbara Esch, behavior analyst and speech therapist. The scale has been adapted to the specific characteristics of Spanish for this edition. The VB-MAPP sections have different colors to facilitate use.
• Barriers Assessment. Covers 24 barriers that can hinder the acquisition of new skills.
• Transition Assessment. A brief assessment of 18 areas that serves as a guide for planning the student's educational needs.
• Task Analysis and Supporting Skills. A checklist of approximately 750 skills that support language milestones and can be integrated with the teaching curriculum.
• The VB-MAPP Guide. This guide provides a detailed explanation for each milestone, its scoring criteria, and numerous examples. The guide describes potential barriers to learning and transition assessment, as well as general scoring instructions and tips for the evaluator. The guide also contains a basic summary of Skinner's analysis of verbal behavior and its application to language assessment.
• Curriculum Placement and Individualized Educational Plan Goals. Helps interpret assessment results for each of the 170 milestones, establish curricular and intervention priorities, and develop measurable, meaningful, and manageable individualized educational plan goals.
